About the Mission
The first international crewed space mission, a symbol of detente. An Apollo capsule docked with a Soviet Soyuz in orbit in July 1975. The crews visited each other and ran joint experiments. The on-orbit handshake between Tom Stafford and Alexei Leonov was broadcast worldwide. Paved the way for the Shuttle-Mir program and the ISS.
