Voskhod 2
About the Mission
Alexei Leonov performed the first spacewalk on March 18, 1965. His suit ballooned in the vacuum and he had to vent air to squeeze back through the hatch. The capsule landed far off course in a snowy forest, and the crew spent a night with wolves circling. An inflatable airlock was used and discarded after the walk. A triumph that nearly ended in disaster at every stage.
