About the Mission
The first space station in history, launched in April 1971. The first crew could not board after a docking hatch failure. The second crew lived aboard for 23 days, a record at the time. They died on return when their Soyuz capsule depressurized, the Soyuz 11 tragedy. The station was deliberately deorbited after 175 days.
