Gemini 8
About the Mission
Neil Armstrong and David Scott performed the first docking in orbit, linking with an Agena target vehicle. Minutes later a stuck thruster sent the joined craft spinning fast. Armstrong recovered control using reentry thrusters with legendary composure. The mission was cut short and the crew came home early. A rehearsal of crisis that served Apollo well.
