About the Mission
A cabin fire during a launch rehearsal killed astronauts Grissom, White, and Chaffee on January 27, 1967. A pure oxygen atmosphere and faulty wiring caused the fire. The hatch opened inward and could not be opened in time. Led to major safety redesigns. Named Apollo 1 by the widows request.
